About me

My name is Vanya Eftimova Bellinger and I am a journalist and a passionate military historian.

I am a graduate from Norwich University’s Master in Arts Program in Military History, Cum Laude (2011) and before that I received B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from the Sofia University “Saint Kliment Ohridski.”

As a historian, my main interests lie in the nineteenth and twentieth century European history, Carl von Clausewitz’s theory on war, escalation of violence, women in war and politics, and the interplay between society, politics, and military.

As a journalist, I report from the United States for various Bulgarian media outlets. Prior to moving to the United States, I was reporting for five years from Berlin, Germany and before this, I was a reporter with the Bulgarian National Television. I have covered major political events such as the US election campaigns in 2012, 2010, and 2008, the Munich Security Conference in 2008, and the G8 Summit in 2007; the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2009 and 2011; and the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in 2006 and 2007.
